Woman stabbed in the neck after breaking into Midvale apartment, another suspect at-large

Local News

MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4) – Police responded to a stabbing in Midvale Monday evening after what police describe as a home invasion gone bad.

According to Sgt. Melody Cutler with the Unified Police Department, officers are responding to the incident at the Springs of Country Woods Apartments located in the 6800 block of Well Wood Road.

Around 8 p.m., two women showed up at one of the apartment units and began banging on a resident’s door and window.

Police tell ABC4 that the woman who lives in the apartment called a friend over to help, who allegedly tried to deescalate while the resident called 911. That’s when the two women outside forced their way in.

While being attacked by the two women, officials say the resident stabbed one of the suspects in the neck with a kitchen knife. The two suspects then ran off.

Officials say the woman who was stabbed was dropped off at a local hospital by the other suspect, who police describe as Polynesian in her late 30s to early 40s. She was last seen taking off from the hospital in a maroon sedan.

Sgt. Melody Cutler with the Unified Police Department said the incident was not a random act and that everyone involved knew each other.

“She was targeted,” Cutler said. “They came here intentionally seeking her.”

Police say the resident and her friend involved were not injured in the incident.

There is no threat to the public at this time. The incident is under investigation.
