Unified Police were called to a shooting on Impressions Drive at around 8:20 p.m. Tuesday.
Sgt. Melody Cutler tells ABC4 a man turned around in his truck on Impressions Drive when he saw the two suspects – a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old. Witnesses told police there was a confrontation, and then shots were fired, and the man was struck.
The truck then rolled down the road, coming to rest in a nearby park. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Unified Police have identified him as 23-year-old Fernando Amaya-Higareda of Kearns.
After an extensive search, police were able to take both suspects into custody. Neither teenager has been identified as they are both juveniles.
Authorities say they do not believe the shooting was a random act and there is no threat to the public at this time.

KEARNS, Utah (ABC4) – A man is dead after a shooting in Kearns Tuesday evening.
According to Sgt. Melody Cutler with the Unified Police Department, the shooting happened around 8:20 p.m. in the area of 5600 S. Impressions Drive.
The shooting happened as a man in his early 20s stopped his truck on Impressions Dr. when two male juveniles approached.
Multiple shots were fired at the man, hitting him. The man’s truck then rolled down the road where it came to rest in a nearby park.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released his identity.
The two suspects ran off following the incident. After an extensive search by police, both suspects have been taken into custody, Sgt. Cutler tells ABC4.
Police have also found a weapon believed to have been used in the shooting.
Law enforcement does not believe the shooting was a random act and there is no threat to the public at this time.
