DAVIS COUNTY (ABC4 News) – Utah Highway Patrol released dash camera footage of a trooper successfully stopping a wrong-way driver on Interstate 15 in Davis County.
The incident happened on May 17, at 2:30 a.m.
Salt Lake Dispatch put out a call of a wrong-way driver near the Davis and Salt Lake County line. A trooper eventually found the SUV traveling on I-15 southbound near 2600 South in Woods Cross.
The trooper decided to side-swipe the SUV after it almost hit another car head-on going 90 miles per hour. Photos previously released by UHP show the aftermath of the Trooper Hooser’s patrol car intercepting the SUV.
According to UHP, six people were killed in crashes with wrong-way drivers in Davis County in 2018. Troopers also said they successfully stopped three wrong-way drivers before anyone was hurt.
