Crews keep large grass fire from hitting refinery in North Salt Lake

NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (News4Utah) – Fire crews were able to keep a large grass fire from spreading to a nearby refinery Sunday night.

The fire started around 10:30 p.m.near the Chevron Oil Refinery off of 2300 North and Beck Street in North Salt Lake.

Several fire units from Bountiful, Farmington and Salt Lake City worked to control the blaze/

Firefighters say heavy winds blew flames 30 feet into the air. They say a quick response from fire crews helped in gaining control of the fire quickly. 

Rocky Mountain Power crews are also on scene as power lines in the area were also down. 

No buildings were damaged and investigators are looking into how the fire started.
