WEST JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 24-year-old Roy man, currently facing several counts of attempting to entice minors over the internet, is now facing new charges after police discovered he had actually met up with a teen girl he met online several times.
According to charging documents filed Wednesday in 2nd District Court, Darius Antonio Williams was arrested on February 11 after driving to a location to meet up to have sex with who he thought was a 13-year-old girl.
A detective with Roy City Police Department said he was posing online as a 13-year-old girl when he met Williams. From February 7th to 11th, the two messaged back and forth on two different social media apps.
Documents state Williams said he wanted to meet up with the girl for sexual activity. Instead of meeting the girl, he was greeted by detectives with the FBI Child Exploitation Task Force.
During an interview with police, Williams admitted to contacting the girl and said he was going to have sex with her at her residence.
Police searched William’s phone where they discovered several sexually explicit conversations with other minor children ranging in age from 10 to 16.
Williams was booked into Weber County Jail, but bailed out on a $10,000 bond.
Detectives continued their investigation into Williams, and on April 9, officers received a report from the task force that five of the images they found were of a young girl that lived in Salt Lake County.
Police contacted the girl and interviewed her at the Children’s Justice Center.
The 16-year-old girl disclosed she met Williams on a dating website in January where he told her he was 18. She said Williams convinced her to meet up with him for sexual activity on multiple occasions.
In all, Williams faces nine felony counts and two misdemeanors including unlawful sexual conduct with a 16 to 17-year-old, enticing a minor over the internet and sexual exploitation of a minor.
A $250,000 warrant for Williams’ arrest has been issued.
A background check for Willams shows he was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in 2013.
