Couple killed in Wayne County plane crash identified

WAYNE COUNTY (ABC4 News) – A couple found dead following a small plane crash in Wayne County Friday has been identified.

The pilot of the Cirrus SR22 was identified as Christian C. Simonson and his wife Lynn Ann Anderson-Simonson of Morgan Hill, California. 

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. 

The couple was discovered after Wayne County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a witness who said they saw a plane crash on Miner’s Mountain Road in the Grover area.

The witnesses told authorities the plane disappeared from their view, they heard an explosion and then saw smoke.

Deputies arrived at the scene of a fiery crash and a large field of debris. The remains of the couple were transported to the State Medical Examiner’s Office where they were identified.

The National Transportation Safety Boarding will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.
