‘Copy-Kate?’ A Utah family’s royal baby-naming coincidence

Local News

SPRINGVILLE, Utah (News4Utah) – A Utah family has a very coincidental connection to the British royal family.

Scott and Helen Fuhriman’s first three children are named Charlotte, George and Louis. They were all born before George, Charlotte and Louis of Cambridge – the children of William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

“We call her ‘copy-Kate’ in our house,” Helen Fuhriman says with a laugh. She said she couldn’t believe it when this “coincidence of the crown” happened for a third time. Prince Louis was born April 23.

“I was getting ready in the morning and Helen was in the other room,” said her husband, Scott, about the day Louis was named. “All I heard her say very loudly was ‘SHUT UP!'”

“My phone lit up,” Helen said. “Friends and family were texting ‘the baby is Louis.’ I was like…no!”

The royal coincidence has given Charlotte Fuhriman,10, some street cred with her friends at school.

“They were all jealous…they were like ‘you’re so lucky,'” said Charlotte, who is old enough to understand how strange of a coincidence it is. “I thought [the royal family] had, like, spy cameras all around our house or something.”

It will be really weird if Kate names a fourth child (if she decides to have a fourth) Susannah. That’s the Fuhriman’s fourth child’s name. But, it’s already happened three times, so why not?

“At that point, we expect an invite to Windsor Castle,” Scott joked.
