Community mural unveiled in West Valley City

Local News

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – A community in West Valley City plagued with graffiti welcomed a new mural Friday. It’s meant to bring the community together.

Local award-winning artist Geri Cordova was asked to paint the mural after nearby residents say the tagging was getting out of hand.

The Utah Non-profit Housing Corporation commissioned Cordova to paint something that represents inclusion and unity.

“They specifically wanted it to look like kids painted it to get them involved so they’ve got ownership pride, rather than graffiti happening the kids feel like it’s a part of them,” said Cordova.

The mural located at the Willow Park Apartments. It’s the latest of 20 murals Cordova has painted to help reduce graffiti and encourage community unity.
