SOUTH SALT LAKE (ABC4 News) – Hundreds of people showed up to get some barbeque Friday night in South Salt Lake all for a good cause.

Pat’s BBQ sponsored a fundraiser to help raise money for the family of fallen South Salt Lake Officer David Romrell.

He was killed in November after only a short time on the force.

Friday all of the funds raised at Pat’s BBQ go to helping his family and fellow officers attend Police Week in Washington D.C. next month.

“We’re trying to go to Washington D.C. Next month when they put David’s name on the national memorial wall during Police Week. We’re just trying to raise money to get David’s sibling to go, his parents, fellow officers. Just to help the trip be more… Not as stressful,” said Whitnie Romrell, David’s sister-in-law.

Their goal is to raise about $50,000. They say that will help them get family members and a handful of friends there too.
