SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) – It was a somber evening at the University of Utah Monday as friends, co-workers, and family gathered to remember Dr. Sarah Hawley.
Dr. Hawley was killed in a murder-suicide. She and her boyfriend were found dead in their home on January 27. Hawley was a first-year resident in the University of Utah Family Medicine Program.
Those who knew here best gathered at the university to hold a candlelight vigil in her honor.
“I mean just shocked. Crushed. She certainly, you know she certainly was a wonderful physician but more than that she was just an amazing human being so hearing the news was pretty devastating and out of the blue for everybody, so it was a sad time for everybody so we’re all trying to grieve and get over that,” said Dr. Brian Vukelic, University of Utah Assistant Professor.
Hawley worked to bring aid to women and children in under-served communities.
