UTAH COUNTY (News4Utah) – An Orem man did not have the best start to the Labor Day Weekend after he was involved in a search and rescue operation in Provo Canyon.

Kendall Barlow, 22, was repelling down Bridal Veil Falls Friday when he got stuck due to a rope malfunction. Utah County Sheriff’s deputies said Barlow is an inexperienced climber.

Deputies said he hung out in the water for nearly an hour before another climber repelled down the falls to help.

The more experienced climber, Zander Smith, 24, freed Barlow from his rope and attached him to his own harness, so they could both get down the falls to safety.

Utah County Search and Rescue and North Fork Fire Department responded to the incident.
