Clerk at West Jordan gas station pepper sprayed during robbery, police say

Local News

WEST JORDAN (News4Utah)- Police are investigating after they say a gas station clerk was pepper sprayed in the face early Wednesday morning.

It happened at the 7-Eleven located at 6990 South Redwood Rd. around 3 a.m.

Investigators say the suspect entered the store and approached the clerk with a large knife and pepper spray.

He demanded the clerk give him money, and when the clerk tried to get away, the suspect sprayed the clerk with the pepper spray, police say.

He then took off with the money, officials say.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s. No other description is available at this time.

Police say this is the same 7-Eleven where just a week ago a man set himself on fire. They say that man is expected to survive but is receiving treatment.
