GUNNISON, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A 69-year-old woman suffered “significant” injures after a crash with a garbage truck on State Route 89.
The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. Friday. A Cadillac driven by Marjorie Monnett, 69, of Spring City, was headed southbound on SR-89 near Gunnison Reservoir Road.
A garbage truck driven by Kevin Taylor, 50, of Ephraim, was headed eastbound on Gunnison Reservoir Road which is controlled by a stop sign.
Utah Highway Patrol says Taylor did not stop at the sign or yield to traffic on SR-89 and proceeded directly into the path of the Cadillac.
Monnett suffered “significant” injuries in the crash and she was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in poor condition, although she is expected to survive.
Troopers say charges are pending against Taylor.
