SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Utah Foster Care’s Chalk Art Festival kicks off festivities at The Gateway, with more than a hundred local artists, entertainment, and family activities.
UFC holds the yearly festival to draw attention to Utah’s 2800 children in foster care.
That number has been steadily increasing, as child neglect and abuse arise from substance abuse, including opioid addiction.
UFC will be partnering with 801 Rocks this year to create an art project with 2800 painted rocks, one representing each child in foster care.
Festival-goers are invited to paint a face on the rock and add it to the display.
