Carrot Cake Pie Wins the State Fair Cookie Contest

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah) Whoopie for Carrot Cake Pie. That’s the name of the winning cookie at the Utah State Fair cookie contest this year. And it looked just like a “whoopie pie” – two carrot cake cookies with a sweet cream cheese and vanilla sauce.
 
Maddie Groskreutz and her six-year-old cousin, Canyon Durrant, took home the blue ribbon and $75 for their winning cookies. 
 
ABC4 Utah anchor Don Hudson emceed the annual contest. And the volunteer judges were from Cantu Culinary Catering, The 1887 Hansen House Bed and Breakfast and Ruby Snap fresh cookies. (see below)
 
The event was sponsored by C&H Sugar and featured 13 entries this year. Prizes were awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd place.
