OGDEN, Utah (News4Utah) – A man wanted in connection to his girlfriend’s murder in California was arrested Tuesday in Ogden after a violent struggle with officers.
Arresting documents filed by the Ogden Police Department said they received a tip that Robert Sims, 35, who is wanted out of Ontario, California on suspicion of murder was on 100 25th Street in Ogden.
Officers arrived at that location and spotted Sims and commanded him to get to the ground. Sims fled on foot from officers were able to catch up with him. Officers said Sims actively resisted arrest and continued to try to push himself off the ground and refused to place his hands behind his back.
After a struggle, Sims was taken into custody and booked into the Weber County Jail on charges of failure to stop a the command of a law enforcement officer, interference with arresting officer and on a warrant of arrest fugitive from justice.
According to Dailybulletin.com, Sims is wanted on suspicion of murder after police said he killed his girlfriend Madis Tolentino, 48, on Monday June 11 in Ontario, California.
Efforts are underway to extradite Sims back to California in order to file formal charges against him.
