PROVO, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A group of Utah veterans are resting this week after a whirlwind trip to Washington D.C. But they weren’t travelling alone. A group of BYU students went along for the ride.
Twenty five veterans flew two thousand miles to see the places and the spaces that celebrate their sacrifice.
Every veteran on the honor flight is paired with a guardian. Often that guardian is a family member. But this flight was special. 12 BYU nursing students trained and studied for a semester to prepare to take care of their veterans.
The nursing students pushed, pulled and guided the veterans through memorial after memorial.
After two days in Washington D.C., it all ended with a hero’s welcome back home in Utah.
