Body recovered in deadly trench collapse

ALPINE, Utah (ABC4 News) — A man is dead after a traumatic trench collapse on Wednesday in Alpine.

Chief Reed Thompson with the Lone Peak Fire District says a landscape contractor was working on a pool project when the trench collapsed trapping the man underneath dirt and other materials. 

Dispatchers were called to the scene around 1 p.m. Wednesday. Officials described the recovery effort as a “labor-intensive” process” that required the help of several local agencies.

The victim’s identity has not been released. This is a developing story, information will be updated as it becomes available.
