Body of male found in Ogden River identified as missing man

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Police say the body of a man discovered in the Ogden River Saturday was that of a missing man. 

The body was found near 600 West and 20th Street just about 7 p.m. after river rafters found the body floating in the river. He has since been identified as 49-year-old Carl Roper.

Roper was reported missing on August 27th. Police say he was last seen fishing in the area along the river. His body was found a quarter of a mile down river.

The cause of death has not been released. 

The body has been sent to the Medical Examiner’s officer for further identification. 

As soon as ABC4 gets more information we will provide an update.
