BLUFFDALE, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 3.1 magnitude earthquake rattled Bluffdale Saturday morning.
The tremblor struck just after 2:30 a.m., according to a tweet from the University of Utah’s Seismograph Stations.
Last week, two quakes registering 3.7 and 3.3 magnitudes awakened residents of Bluffdale.
“It’s unusual, but it’s not unprecedented,” University of Utah seismologist Jim Pechmann told ABC4 News regarding the recent bout of seismic activity in several areas of the state.
Small quakes register daily in Utah on seismometers and Pechmann they should remind all Utahns to prepare themselves for a potentially catastrophic earthquake.
