ALTA SKI RESORT (News4Utah) – It’s all downhill for an 85-year-old woman who hit the slopes at Alta Resort this afternoon, proving that age is nothing but a number.

Gillian Lindt is a retired Columbia University professor who is originally from Scandinavia and has led quite the life.

She also suffers from Macular Degeneration, meaning she is completely blind in one eye and she can only occasionally see movement in her other. But that didn’t stop here from getting her turns in on the slopes.

“When I’m walking on a street I have to be careful because so often you can trip on a brick or a sidewalk,” Lindt told News4Utah. “The wonderful thing with skiing is I don’t have to worry, I just glide. That’s what fabulous.”

Gillian lost her sight 14 years ago but thanks to the help of a two-way radio and a special instructor in her ear, she maneuvered the runs quite well.
