Black Lives Matter protested “justified” ruling in officer involved shooting of Patrick Harmon

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) – Black Lives Matter organized a rally Sunday right outside police headquarters in downtown Salt Lake City to protest the verdict on the officer involved shooting of Patrick Harmon. Harmon was shot twice by police on August 13th and died.

Sim Gills, the Salt Lake City District Attorney, announced this week that Officer Fox would not be prosecuted because the shooting was legally justified. Police say Harmon pulled a knife on officers as he attempted to run.

Harmon was pulled over on his bike after an officer watched him ride across six lanes of traffic. The officer attempted to arrest Harmon after finding an outstanding warrant for aggravated assault.

Police body camera footage was released and shows the encounter.
