COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (News4Utah) – Cottonwood Heights City officials are asking residents, visitors and business owners to plan ahead due to the 2018 REVEL Big Cottonwood Marathon and Half Marathon this weekend.

The race, which is a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon, will take place on Saturday, September 8.

There will be limited access to Big Cottonwood Canyon, a portion of Wasatch Boulevard and most of Fort Union Boulevard before, during and after the race. The marathon and half marathon both begin at 6:45 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. when the last runners are expected to reach the finish line.

The event will close north and south access across Fort Union Boulevard. During the race, east and westbound traffic will be limited to two-way access on the south side of the street and one westbound lane on the north side.

All businesses along Fort Union will be accessible during the race, but patrons will be required to access them from the north or south sides of the street. No one will be allowed to cross Fort Union Boulevard during the race.

The race is expected to draw more than 4,600 runners and more spectators to Cottonwood Heights.
