KANAB, Utah (ABC4 News) – The Harris Poll EquiTrend study has named the Best Friends Animal Society a brand of the year. The nonprofit is the only national animal welfare organization based in the state.
“This is an extraordinary time in the animal welfare movement. For the first time on record, the total number of dogs and cats killed in America’s shelters for a given year has dropped below the one million mark” — Greta Palmer, Chief Brand and Communications Officer, Best Friends Animal Society.
Best Friends Animal Shelter said its goal is to save the about 2,200 dogs and cats who are killed every day. Palmer says the national save rate has increased by 7% for the 2017 calendar year as the number of dogs and cats killed has been reduced to about 800,000.
According to a press release, Best Friends Animal Society has regional centers located in Salt Lake City, Atlanta, New York, and Los Angeles, and operates the nation’s largest no-kill sanctuary for companion animals.
