Bake sale helps Mother of two progress her asylum case

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utha) –A Honduran Mother of two young children has been living inside a Salt Lake City church since January. She is taking sanctuary there to avoid deportation while she tries to get asylum.

Recently, Vicky Chavez’s asylum appeal was denied, to have her case re-opened and re-examined, she has to file a new appeal to a higher court. This process is long and costly.

Fillings and Emulsions bakery, held a bake sale at the First Unitarian Church on Saturday, July 28 beginning help fundraise for Vicky’s legal defense fund.
