Local News

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) It’s time for our Ask The Authority segment, where we talk to some of our state leaders. We are talking to an Operation Rio Grande leader and one of the top state leaders Utah House Speaker Greg Hughes.

We asked Hughes all about the operation.

“For decades we’ve had we’ve had a drug market, we’ve had lawless we’ve had in tough circumstances, we’ve seen the violence increase. As of late we’ve seen opioid and open air drug markets where police were overwhelmed in terms of bringing justice to those that were spilling this poison in really hurting people. Jail beds were full.”

Hughes also spoke on his goals for Utah and what exactly his responsibilities are as a house speaker.
