WEST VALLEY CITY (News4Utah) – One person was injured, and two others were taken into custody after a shooting in West Valley City Friday afternoon.

Lt. Steve Burke with West Valley City Police Department said around 4:40 p.m. dispatch received a slew of calls reporting a disturbance at 3503 West 4650 South.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the body. While they were tending to the victim and beginning their investigation, the 17-year-old male suspect returned, and he was taken into custody.

Police did not release his identity because he is a minor. Police said they also detained a female (unknown age) after the incident.

Investigators are still working to piece together exactly what lead the altercation and shooting. The victim was in serious condition, and police said his injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.
