SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah) – In light of Thursday morning’s shooting at a Maryland workplace, News4Utah looked into how prepared Utah businesses are for a possible threat.
Active-shooter training is completely voluntary in the state of Utah, and according to the Utah Division of Emergency Management, the best way to access training is through local law enforcement.
PIO Joe Dougherty said, “Create a partnership with your local law enforcement agency, call you local police or sheriff’s office and ask, is there any way that someone could come and provide this training for my business? or maybe get a group of businesses together so it’s more efficient that way.” Training done by law enforcement is free.
Be Ready Utah has provided free active-shooter training materials on their website.
