American Airlines cancels 90 flights a day after Boeing plane is grounded

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) American Airlines says it plans to cancel flights well into April due to the grounding of the Boeing 737 Max jets.

The world’s largest airline said it’s canceling about 90 flights a day, and it now plans to do that through April 24th.

Prior to Sunday’s announcement, American Airlines only canceled flights through March 28th. The global fleet of 737 Max jets was grounded indefinitely March 13th, in the wake of two crashes within six months.

The airline is hopeful the planes will be flying again soon but said it’s canceling flights about a month out as it waits for word on the planes from the Federal Aviation Administration.
