SANDY, Utah (ABC4 News) – Will Utahns soon be able to enjoy a concert and an alcoholic beverage at the same time while at the Sandy Amphitheater?
The topic was discussed at the Sandy City Council Meeting Tuesday night.
Council members voted six to one in favor of the idea.
The agenda item now goes to the Planning Commission for recommendations. After the Planning Commission does its review, it will forward its recommendations to the City Council.
The City Council will review the recommendations and then will either deny or permit the use of alcohol at the amphitheater.
Alcohol sales have never been allowed at the amphitheater because it’s considered a park.
Because of that, there’s a land use ordinance attached to this agenda item, to change the amphitheater’s designation from a park to something else so alcohol can be sold.
The public can voice their opinions at both the Planning Commission and City Council meetings.
