HERRIMAN (ABC4 News) – At just 9 years old, a Herriman girl is already getting her career started as an entrepreneur.
Emrie Hartley started her own business selling children’s clothes. Why?
“To earn money and learn how to start a business,” said Emrie.
That’s why she recently came up with the idea to start Dot Dot Smile Girl Boss.
So at a young age, she is already learning how to make, save and spend money.
“It feels awesome and cool,” Emrie said about having her own business.
With the help of her mom, who is also her best friend, Emrie raised enough money to start the business by selling all of her own toys.
“She’s 9 years old, and I told her just because she’s 9 years old doesn’t mean that she can’t have her own business,” said Emrie’s mom, Danielle Hartley.
She sells leggings, dresses, shorts and more. Her mom says she couldn’t be more proud.
“My husband and I are super proud of her. She’s very smart, she’s great at math, she’s a really good student, loves to learn, so I’m just excited to teach her about a business,” said Danielle.
Emrie plans to put away 20 percent of what she owns, but the other part?
“Probably just buy more clothes to wear,” said Emrie.
Emrie also says she just received her first order and is excited to keep filling more as they come in.
