HEBER CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – About 70 tons of hay was totally destroyed after a barn fire near Heber City Thursday night.

The Wasatch County Fire posted about the fire on Facebook at about 10 p.m.

The property owner said he was eating dinner when he got a call from dispatch alerting him about the fire. When he ran outside the first fire crews were arriving.

Fire crews were able to save the barn and the animals were moved from the area safely, but the hay was destroyed.

The hay is being moved from the stack and spread out in the adjacent field to be sprayed with water so that it doesn’t smolder and reignite. Crews watched all night with a charged hose line.

The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time. This is is a developing story. We will provide updates as they become available.
