33-year-old man dies in motorcycle crash on Bangerter Highway

Local News

West Jordan, Utah (News4Utah) – A motorcyclist died after a crash on Bangerter Highway late Saturday night in West Jordan.

Sgt. Dan Roberts, West Jordan Police, said the crash happened at about 11 p.m. at 8900 South and Bangerter Highway when 33-year-old Craig Schmidt lost control of his motorcycle and crashed.

When officers and EMS arrived, Schmidt was conscious but slipped out of consciousness while still at the scene. Emergency personnel worked on Schmidt there and while on the way to the hospital but he eventually succumbed to his injuries.

Roberts said there was a pallet in the road and it is possible Schmidt did not see it and hit the pallet. It is also right at the entrance to the new bridge being built over 9000 Bangerter Highway and the road swerves to the right. Investigators are still trying to determine the exact cause of the crash.

A helmet was found in the road that police believe belonged to Schmidt. If you would like to help Schmidt’s family with funeral expenses, here is a link to their GoFundMe
