SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah (News4Utah) – A 28-year-old woman has died, and several others injured, after a two car crash in Saratoga Springs early Sunday morning.
Saratoga Springs City Public Information Officer Dave Johnson said the crash happened around 12:35 a.m. at the intersection of Redwood Road and Pioneer Crossing when a SUV carrying three occupants was headed north on Redwood Road and a sedan carrying six occupants was making a left hand turn from southbound Redwood Road to eastbound Pioneer Crossing.
Witnesses told police the sedan had a green arrow but that has not been confirmed and it is not known what color the light was for the driver of the SUV.
The woman, the front passenger in the sedan, succumbed at the scene and several others involved in the crash were transported to the hospital with varying degrees of injuries.
She has been identified as 28-year-old Jacqueline Penaloza.
Johnson said the victims 17-year-old sister was driving and Penaloza’s three children, a 3-year-old girl, an 11-year-old girl and a 6-year-old boy, along with the Penaloza’s mother were in the back of the sedan. As of Tuesday, the 3-year-old and the mother are still in the hospital recovering from their injuries. It is not known the condition of the 6-year-old and 11-year old and Johnson said the 17-year-old driver had minor injuries.
