SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) is on the rise in Utah.

With the growing economy teaching children STEM skills is becoming more important.

Every summer for the past four years Utah Geek Events, a non-profit organization, has been putting on Kids Code Con (KCC).

KCC is an event for kids 5+ to learn how to code on a Saturdays during the summer.

Topics include Scratch, HTML/JavaScript, Python, Unity3D, and electronics. Students are given basic background then assisted in building a simple game where skills can be expanded.  

Lasts years event taught over 900 kids how to write code. This year Utah Geek’s want to teach even more.

Everyone who organizes Utah Geek Events are volunteers.
