2 officers injured after being assaulted by party-goers in Magna

MAGNA, Utah (ABC4 News) – Two officers received minor injuries after being attacked while responding to a party in Magna early Sunday morning. 

Unified Police Sgt. Melody Gray said they received a call of a loud party happening around 1:30 a.m. on Noble Fir Cove (7550 West). 

When police arrived, they found a group of adults who were partying inside a garage and a tent that was set up in the backyard who were heavily intoxicated and loud. 

When the officers asked the group to shut down their party, things took a turn for the worse. 

Gray said several men started physically fighting with the officers, forcing a call for additional resources. West Valley City officers showed up to help assist Unified Police officers get the situation under control. 

When it was over, five people were in custody and two officers received minor injuries. One officer was taken to the hospital for treatment and the other officer was treated on scene. 

The five men were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, all facing charges of third-degree felony enticing a riot and misdemeanor counts of disorderly conduct, assaulting a police officer, public intoxication, resisting arrest and interfering with arrest.
