2 arrested in connection with Herriman officer-involved shooting

HERRIMAN, Utah (News4Utah) – Law enforcement officials conducted an operation in connection with the ongoing search for a suspect in an officer-involved shooting. 

Salt Lake City police conducted the operation in Herriman Tuesday afternoon.

On Saturday, police say Justin Gary Llewelyn, 33, broke into a Herriman home, shot the homeowner and shot at officers. The shooting lead to a massive manhunt in the Riverton/Herriman area. 
According to police, Tasha and Misty Llewelyn were taken into custody in relation to Saturday’s shooting incident. After questioning the pair was arrested on charges of obstruction of justice. (A third person was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon, but they were later released.) 

The primary suspect, Llewelyn, has not been apprehended.

“Certainly anytime we have a suspect who has discharged a weapon at officers we are going to use extreme caution and we urge the public to use that caution as well.” 

Due to the police activity in the area, three Jordan School District schools were placed on lockout. The lockout order was lifted a short time later around 3:15 p.m.

Students at Black Ridge and Foothills Elementary Schools and Fort Herriman Middle School were allowed to leave when school was dismissed.

Police have not disclosed an amount, but say there is reward for information leading to Justin Llewelyn’s capture. Police warn that anyone caught harboring him will be arrested and prosecuted. Officers are encouraging Llewelyn to turn himself him.
