1st ever ‘Dance for Life’ benefit for teen suicide prevention and awareness held in Ogden

Local News

OGDEN, Utah (News4Utah) – Suicide is the number one cause of death among teenagers in the state of Utah and last night some dancers stepped up to change that.

This was the first ever “Dance for Life” benefit performance at Ogden High School. Dance companies from all around the state joined Sophia Lucia from the TV show “Dance Moms” to bring attention to the problem with an evening of emotional speeches and performances.

The director of Dance for Life told us all the proceeds went to NuHope Utah, a suicide awareness and prevention organization.

“It’s something different. They do a lot of walk for suicide or something for suicide but this was unique and we have such great dance talent,” said Kristin Barlow, Dance for Life Director. “Every single person that I’ve approached has jumped on board and if they didn’t they sent sponsors or they said please include us next year.”

Barlow says she hopes to make this an annual event.
