WEST VALLEY CITY (News4Utah)- A student was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after officials say they were hit by a car near Kennedy Junior High School.
It happened around 8 a.m. Police said a 13-year-old boy was hit by a car while crossing the street. The driver of the car said they did not see the student. Police confirm he was not in a crosswalk

Officials with Granite School District say counselors will be made available to any students experiencing grief or trauma. They as that parents take the time to talk with their children about safety in crosswalks and following the direction of crossing guards.
This also serves as an opportunity to remind drivers to use slow down and pay attention on school grounds.
