12-year-old struck by bus while riding bike

ROY, Utah (News4Utah) A 12-year-old boy was hospitalized Friday afternoon after he was hit by a school bus.

Roy City police officers were dispatched to 5175 South 2500 West on the report of an auto-pedestrian crash.

When officers arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy with critical injuries who had been struck by a Weber School District bus.

Police said the boy was riding his bike westbound on 5175 West and was hit in the intersection by the bus which was traveling southbound.

The boy was rushed to Davis Hospital and then taken via medical helicopter to Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City.

Students on the bus were released to their parents or transported by another responding Weber County School District bus.

Police said the investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Editor’s Note: Previous version of this story said the boy is 14 years old. Police later said the boy is 12.
