12-year-old boy sleeps through home burglary

WEST JORDAN, Utah (News4Utah) – West Jordan Police Department is asking for the public’s help tracking down a suspect in a residential burglary.

On January 3, police say a male suspect broke into a house around 9:23 a.m. He gained access to the home by breaking the doggy door and unlocking it from the inside.

A 12-year-old boy was asleep inside the home at the time. He remained asleep during the incident.

According to the report, the suspect took multiple items from the home and fled in a white mid 2000s 4-door Chevrolet Cavalier. Investigators say to note the distinguishing black rims and the broken and taped passenger rear window on the car.

The boy later woke to discover the house had been ransacked. The police were called shortly afternoon.
