SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – UPDATE: The motorcycle driver involved in the crash died due to his injuries Thursday. Police identified him as Cameron Dale Hicks, 46. The 45-year-old female passenger’s condition has been reported as “stable.”
Two people are in critical condition after a crash involving a car and a motorcycle in Sandy.
Emergency crews responded to the intersection of Little Cottonwood Canyon Road and Wasatch Boulevard. around 8 p.m. Wednesday. Police say a Honda Civic driven by a 24-year-old man with a 19-year-old female passenger was headed westbound on Little Cottonwood Canyon Road and attempted to turn south on Wasatch Boulevard.
A motorcycle driven by a 46-year-old man with an adult female passenger (age unknown) was headed eastbound on Little Cottonwood Canyon Road when the car and motorcycle collided.
The driver and passenger on the motorcycle were both wearing helmets and suffered serious serious. The man was taken to Intermountain Medical Center by medical helicopter. The woman was also transported to IMC via an ambulance.
Police do not believe drugs or alcohol to be a factor. The investigation is ongoing to see if speed may be to blame. The intersection was completely shut down while investigators investigated the crash.
