LDS Democrats Declare ‘Pro-family’ Policies in Report

News
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) LDS Democrats called Republican policies “anti-family” and released a report detailing “pro-family” policies of the Democratic Party.

The report is called “Defending the Family: A Report on Pro-Family Public Policy.”

This report outlines key opportunities to defend the family and outlines the Democratic principles that best support families on a number of issues.

“Our Human Family is under attack. We cannot, in good conscience call ourselves “pro-family” unless we are actively, practically, and concretely looking out for the welfare of all families, regardless of their wealth, religion, sex, skin color, gender, race, health, or sexual orientation. We hope our Republican colleagues and friends will reject anti-family policies which amount to little more than cafeteria morality,” said Brian King, LDS Democrat Executive Committee Member.

Utah Republican Chairman James Evans responded the the LDS Democrats with the following statement:

“LDS Democrats simply can’t walk the walk when they reference themselves as a religious entity in the political arena. First of all, they are an ally of the organization (the Democratic National Committee) that undermines the family by promoting destruction of over 400,000 unborn infants each year.

An under the guise of their “Defending the Family” report, LDS Democrats are now promoting socialism. In effect, advocating that the big hand of government usurp the role that religious institutions have played in guiding the family for more than 2,000 years. There is irony when the LDS Democrats want to remove the church from its role in guiding families and replace it with government.

The LDS Democrats are a conflicted group. The UTGOP’s goals and its support for the family and religion have been clear in its party platform and in its actions for many years.
