SANDY, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – A record crowd of 21.363 fans saw Real Salt Lake’s best all-around performance of the season.

Damir Kreilach scored three goals for the hat trick, while Albert Rusnak added two more  goals, as Real Salt Lake blitzed the LA Galaxy, 6-2.

“We played unbelievably good,” Kreilach said. “We controlled the game from the second minute. It was amazing. We put the whole game plan in. We created a lot of chances. It’s not [always] so easy, but it was brilliant from us tonight.”

RSL became the first team in MLS history to score six goals or more in back-to-back games. Real beat Colorado last week, 6-0.

“That was our most complete 90 minutes since I’ve been here,” said head coach Mike Petke. “We were very amped up, a record breaking crowd, you could feel it all week. These guys are in playoff mode with their mentality.”

The match got off to a horrible start as Jonathan dos Santos hammered home a goal in the opening minute to give the Galaxy a 1-0 lead.

But Rusnak found the equalizer in the 14th minute to level the match at one.

Kreilach then scored his first of three goals in stoppage time to give RSL a 2-1 lead going into the half.

Then the floodgates opened.

Jefferson Savarino, Kreilach, Rusnak and Kreilach again scored goals in a span of 23 minutes to put the game out of reach.

“I’m thrilled for these guys,” Petke said. “They realized what it was going to take towards the end of the season pushing over the last three games, and they’ve been doing it.”

RSL has now won three straight matches and improves to 13-10-5 on the season, remaining in 4th place in the Western Conference standings.

Real next hosts Minnesota Saturday, September 15th.
