Jordan rolls to 5A baseball championship, 11-1

OREM, Utah (ABC4 Sports) – The Jordan High baseball team proved that blondes do indeed have more fun.

Ever since the entire team bleached their hair in a gesture of team unity, the Beetdiggers didn’t lose a game, and capped their incredible season with an 11-1 mercy-rule win over Olympus in the 5A title game for its 18th straight victory.

Jordan jumped all over the Titans in the first inning, scoring eight runs. Noah Bachman hit a 3-run home run, while Drew Jones had two hits, two runs, and two RBI for Jordan. Gage Edwards went the distance on the mound, striking out five and allowing just one run.

“We turned it around after that last loss,” Edwards said. “We decided we didn’t want it to end in a negative way. We wanted it to end like this.”

“It’s a team unity thing,” Bachman said about the team dying its hair. “We all got in a big group and said what are we going to do. So we decided to bleach our hair and were like, yeah, let’s do it. So we bleached our hair and I guess it worked.”

Jordan ends the season with a record of 24-6.

Olympus’ only run came on a solo home run by AJ Affleck.
