How One Group is Working to Prevent Child Abuse in Utah

News
Gwen Knight from Prevent Child Abuse Utah shares more about its Adopt-a-School program.

The PCAU Adopt-a-School Fundraiser is a statewide community effort to provide prevention education to Utah’s children.

PCAU says 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before age 18 and Utah’s child sexual abuse rate is 3 times the national average.

The organizations’s fundraising goal is to have a minimum of 50 schools adopted which equates to about 30,000 Utah students.

School adoption is $2,500.00. The $2,500.00 donation provides child abuse prevention education to about 600-700 students during the school year, a pinwheel garden with donor signage placed in front of the school during April , which is National Child Abuse Prevention month.
