NORTHERN UTAH (ABC4 Utah)- A high wind advisory has been issued for various parts of northern Utah Thursday morning.
High Winds
The National Weather Service says strong southwesterly winds will continue into midday the hours. Wind gusts around 60 mph or higher are expected with stronger gusts across the higher mountain ridges.

Semi Truck Prohibition
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) prohibited semis on I-80 between Wendover and 7200 West in Salt Lake City (mileposts 0-111). There is also a restriction on SR-201 from the I-80 junction to 8400 West in Salt Lake (milepost 0-7). Wind gusts reached up to 75 mph.
The prohibition is expected to remain in place until noon.

Structural Damage
Damage was also seen closer to downtown Salt Lake City near Foothill Drive at 2300 South.
A building under construction was destroyed by winds. The scaffolding was torn from the structure and debris covered roadways. The debris shut down Foothill drive as crews worked to clear the road. Roadways opened again around 7:30 a.m.

Power outages
Rocky Mountain Power reported nearly 2,600 customers without power in Tooele county zipcode 84074. The outage is expected to be repaired by 8:30 a.m.
