SALT LAKE CITY (News4Utah)- If you have a runny nose or sore throat you’re not alone. If fact, this past week Salt Lake City earned the top spot in the nation on WebMD’s Cold and Flu Map.
Using a combination of geo-location data and self-reported information on flu-like symptoms, WebMD’s data shows high levels of reported symptoms as the new year began.
This week, the Salt Lake City area has experienced the highest levels of cold and flu symptoms. San Diego, Syracuse, and Austin trailed behind SLC.
The information is compiled using information from WebMD’s Symptom Checker. Web MD says the map has proven to be highly predictive of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention prevalence data for cold and flu.
