Horror stories about the process of getting a settlement after a accident can happen to anyone, but there is help if you get into one of those situations.
Ken Christensen an attorney from Christensen and Hymas explains what you should do after an accident.
Christensen says the most important thing to remember is to be patient when working to get a settlement after an accident.
He says you’re entitled to reimbursement of the expenses you have incurred for all your medical treatment (doctor visits, physical therapy appts, x-rays or MRI’s), as well as any wages that you’ve lost because of time missed from work. You can also recover for any medical expenses you’re likely to have in the future because of injuries from your accident, as well as any additional time you’re likely to miss from work down the road.
A settlement should include money for pain and suffering. There should be fair compensation for how the accident has affected you and your family, for how much it has interfered with your daily, whether there’s any disfigurement, and other similar factors.
If you would like to learn more, Christensen wrote a book called “7 Biggest Mistakes That Can Wreck Your Utah Accident Case.” The book explains the dos and don’ts after a car accident.
