SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- Clean-up continued onto the early hours of the morning after a fuel tanker crashed into a pond Wednesday night.
Officials say the driver failed to negotiate a turn while taking the I-15 off ramp at 2100 North and ended up in the water.
A small amount of gas leaked from the truck into the pond. A Hazmat team responded to clean up the mess.
Sgt. Mary Kaye Lucas with Utah Highway Patrol said the driver walked away with only minor injuries.
“”Pretty darn lucky. The front of the cab is pretty compromised. None of the fuel tanks — the tankers themselves — appear to be compromised at this point,” Sgt. Lucas said.
Troopers say the driver actually stayed through the night to assist with the cleanup.
They do not suspect alcohol played a role in the crash.
